Rochelle Perts (1992) is a native Dutch singer with Surinam roots explaining her exotic beauty. Her vocal style and distinctive sound are unique, and she dominates in her home country as the leading female singer in her genre of pop/R&B. At the age of 19, she won the 2011 X-Factor competition, and her subsequent single, a cover of Jordin Sparks’ “No Air”, peaked at number 1 in the Dutch Top 100 charts.
Shortly after, together with international producer formation “Yellow Claw” they released “Shotgun” through Spinnin’ Records. To this day, it’s still one of the biggest international hits originating from The Netherlands and is still breaking records around the world. After entering the Dutch charts, it wasn’t long before neighboring countries picked up on this massive hit; receiving airplay in Belgium, Greece, Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan and peaking on several iTunes Top 10 Charts around the globe. The video has more than 89 million views on Youtube, more than 20 million plays on Spotify and is also played on Sirius XM, one of America’s biggest radio stations with over 25 million listeners.
In early 2015 Rochelle collaborated with Lady Bee and released “Return Of The Mack”, a cover of Mark Morrison’s global hit song released in 1996. Over just one day, the video reached over 150.000 Youtube views. Dutch DJ Oliver Heldens released a remix of the track and it received airplay support from Sirius XM in the US. Aside from Oliver Helden’s remix, there was a complete remix package with remixes made by Dirtcaps, Poupon and SNBRN .
In May 2015, Rochelle joined forces with the energetic trio “Dirtcaps”, together they created the summer hit “Fools Paradise”. “Fools Paradise” was signed to Amsterdam based Record Label Young Elephants. Rochelle is one of the first promising and international music artists, represented by Young Elephants.
In February 2016 Rochelle released her first solo single after a string of featured singles with Electronic Dance Music artists. Her solo release “All Night Long” showed her own individual sound and capabilities as a lead vocalist and the track was regarded an instant hit by the biggest commercial radio stations in The Netherlands. The track shot into the Dutch Top 40 and stayed there for 23 weeks. Shortly after, she received her first independent GOLD award for “All Night Long”. With more than 8,5 million plays on Spotify and more than 7 million views on Youtube, Rochelle has proven to be a successful artist to closely watch as she embarks further on her international career.
Whilst filming her music video “All Night Long” in Surinam, she met renowned Dutch DJ, “Sandro Silva”. The two hit it off immediately musically and professionally and created a track together, named “Breaking Walls”. In June 2016 Sandro Silva released this song featuring Rochelle on her home-base label Young Elephants.
In September 2016 Rochelle released her second single featuring “Kalibwoy”, named “Way Up”. Which incidentally talks about her own path to the top. As her team expands due to the smash successes of her tracks, she’s eager to release more music in the near future. She has always dreamed of having an international music career and is determined more than ever to make her dreams come true. Her second single “Way Up” proves to be another step in the right direction, because similar to her first solo single, the song was regarded as an immediate hit by Hollands biggest commercial radio station, Radio 538.
Besides making music, Rochelle is also involved in the Dutch fashion scene, where she works with many young and fresh designers. As an up-and-coming fashion icon and model, she has been featured in L’Officiel, JFK and Elle magazine and Krijn van Noordwijk’s photo book TAT TOO. While Rochelle’s sound may be warm and fresh, she prefers to keep it dark and edgy when it comes to couture, emphasizing her eclectic personality.
